14-year-old Manchester girl jumps into Goyt river risks her life to save her dog

Usually you hear stories about how dogs save their owners, well not this time. According to the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, a teen girl was rescued after she jumped into the river Goyt to save her best friend.

“The young woman went in after the dog and got swept about  25 metres down the river, luckily she found herself marooned on an island mid-stream.”

The rescue workers were surprised since dogs rarely get caught by the river stream since they’re usually able to paddle back to safety.

“Dogs always manage to paddle over to a bank and escape from water, it’s very rare that they get swept away”, said
Bob Pownell, of Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service.

Guess you can say that’s one lucky dog…
