Long Island teacher knocked out cold by parent

When you think about teaching you may not think it’s a dangerous profession, but not if you’re this teacher. Catherine Engelhardt was knocked out unconscious in the school hallway by a student’s mom.

The NY Post reported that Engelhardt was allegedly attacked by a parent and her daughter at the Alverta B. Gary Schultz Middle School in Hempsted, NY on Wednesday.

“Irate mom Annika McKenzie allegedly pushed her way past security at the middle school to confront Engelhardt.
McKenzie was angry about an incident earlier in the day in which she claimed the teacher grabbed her 12-year-old daughter.”

McKenzie, who confronted the teacher, allegedly became enraged when security was called by the teacher.

According to WABC News, Engelhardt said, she was “put in a chokehold, and shoved her into a wall and decked her… Then some kids, including McKenzie’s daughter and 14-year-old niece, allegedly started kicking the teacher.”

Engelhardt was unconscious for several minutes and taken to Winthrop University Hospital and later released.
