Pregnant Popeyes manager fired after she refuses to pay for armed robbery

Marissa Holcomb was working as a shift manager at a Popeyes in Channelview, Texas when an armed robber held her at gunpoint in March.

Holcomb, who is five months pregnant said that a masked man with a gun burst into the fast food eatery and ordered employees to the floor KHOU reported.

“He grabbed Holcomb by her shirt and told her to empty the safe, but she said she could only open the registers.”

Holcomb said that after the robbery one of her managers gave her an ultimatum, either pay the money back or lose her job.  Holcomb was reprimanded because she refused to pay back the $400 that the gunman stole.

“I told them I’m not paying nothing, I just had a gun to me. I’m not paying the money.”

The company owner, Amin Dhanani, explained that she was fired because she broke protocol multiple times by leaving too much money in the register.

Holcomb said, “I don’t think it’s right because now I’m struggling for my family because what I had to do to keep my life,” she said.
