Amputee runner aspires to make history at Boston Marathon

Jami’s legs had to be amputated several inches below her knees. Because of this amputation her caretakers explained to her that she needed to “strengthen and exercise my body to make up for what I was going to be missing from the surgery.”

Jami first started to recondition her body by going to the Gym, then after seeing other amputees runningĀ in the 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta, Georgia, everything changed: “What an incredible way to live your life.”

Jami is running in honor of Celeste Corcoran, who lost her legs in the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.
